Sydney – Middle East Times Int’l:
The World Lebanese Culture Union express its deep sorrow and outrage over the recent theft of the Lebanese Emigrant Statue.
The theft of the Lebanese Emigrant Statue in Preston, Victoria, Australia,
is a regrettable crime targeting a symbol of deep value for the Lebanese
community both locally and globally. This statue, which embodies the
themes of sacrifice and longing for one’s homeland, stands as a
testament to the contributions of Lebanese emigrants who have supported
their nation in challenging times. The act of stealing this statue is
not merely an offense against a piece of art, but a violation of the
identity, history, and culture of an entire community and an insult to
the sacrifices of thousands of Lebanese who were compelled to emigrate.
This crime calls for widespread condemnation from both the Lebanese
community and Australian authorities. A thorough investigation is
essential to identify the perpetrators, hold them accountable, and
restore this important symbol to its rightful place in the community.
